Still Life with Skull: Oil on panel, 16"x24", 2004

Step one - For this project I was compelled to do the detailed drawing in graphite seen here.  I then transferred the drawing to the panel and began work on the grisaille seen in the next two steps.

Steps two and three - working on a gessoed panel, the background is painted in first, then work begins on the foreground and objects

Step four, the completed grisaille - ready for glazes and scumbles
